Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The unit lead ensures proper supervision and appropriate behavioral limits of clients and shelter staff by taking reasonable action to carry out responsibilities and ensuring the safety and well- being of each client in accordance with federal or state standards and requirements.


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:







  • Supervise assigned staff from the start of the assigned shift until relieved, without interruption from outside sources.





  • Monitoring client behavior, providing direction and redirection to ensure safety and adherence to shelter rules and procedures.





  • Responding to and managing crises, including conflict resolution and de-escalation.





  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents, client progress, and other relevant information.





  • Assisting with the implementation of shelter program, including recreational activities and daily routines.





  • Ensuring the shelter is clean, safe, and well-maintained and operates in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines.





  • Participates in meetings, training, and other activities to enhance skills and knowledge.





  • Effectively communicate behavioral expectations and program regulations to clients and enforce




compliance with regulations and expectations by all clients assigned to the staff as per all written

orders given and approved by the Shelter Manager.




  • Monitor and supervise a client's behavior on shelter activities providing direction and re-direction when needed to ensure safety.





  • Document all serious incidents, daily progress, changes in menus and activities completely, accurately in a timely manner and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.





  • Escort clients in a safe manner to and from designated points as directed by administrator on duty.





  • Frequently travels from one area of the physical shelter to another and escort clients from one location to another.





  • Monitor staffing assignments to ensure the staff to client ratio is maintained at all times.





  • Model behaviors and social skills that are consistent with organization and program policies.





  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel on other shifts to promote continuity of care.





  • Plan, organize and supervise activities for clients in accordance with daily activity schedule.





  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.





  • Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions and operations.





  • Monitor, coordinate and delegate daily operations as needed throughout the shift.





  • Maintain documentation required by this position and ensure documentation required by the administrator on duty's and shelter staff are completed in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements and standards and agency policies and procedures.





  • May include tasks such as intake, assessment, referral services, transportation and;





  • Other job duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 1 (one) year experience in a shelter setting and supervisory experience. Must include experience in working with vulnerable populations.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.

LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
