The University of Minnesota Morris (UMN Morris) is seeking a Data Operations Coordinator to provide data reporting and analysis to the campus community and support system maintenance with troubleshooting and problem solving. In collaboration with others, this role will also be responsible for training and maximizing the use of Slate software to support all admissions processes and serve as a Slate captain.

This is a full-time, hybrid position with some on-campus work required on the UMN Morris Campus.

This position will report to both the Office of Admissions and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER) at the University of Minnesota Morris.

The Office of Admissions is the primary source of information about the University of Minnesota Morris for prospective students. The office recruits and admits students and facilitates the connection to the University faculty and staff to discuss programs in which a student is interested. In addition, it represents and markets the campus through electronic communications and printed brochures and material regarding all phases of the institution and its policies and programs.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER) at the University of Minnesota Morris provides statistical information about the Morris campus in support of institutional planning and decision making, assessment of student learning, external reporting, institutional accreditation, and academic program review.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Data Management - 60%

  • Develop and oversee list management for marketing & communication outreach for student recruitment related to direct mail campaigns, print & electronic communications campaigns to prospective & admitted students, high school counselors and others.
  • Works with admissions staff, division chairs, directors, faculty, administrators, and the campus community to identify and respond to their data and related information needs.
  • Provide support for research proposals and grant applications
  • Review and document the unit's business processes.
  • Assist in developing and providing Slate training to Morris Admissions staff.
  • Models and promotes respect and effective partnerships in advancing Morris's efforts to build an inclusive, respectful campus community.

Data Reporting - 30%

  • Develop and create reports to monitor progress and enable data-driven decision making.
  • Creates and manipulates datasets using a variety of data sources.
  • Disseminates information using various modes of data visualization.
  • Contributes to the survey research process. Completes key external agency surveys and responds to requests for data to complete other surveys.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years
  • Excellent verbal & written communication
  • Evidence of experience in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to function effectively in a complex organizational environment and ability to successfully relate and interact with diverse groups of people

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or coursework directly related to job duties (e.g., database management, project management, data analysis)
  • Experience working with database software or code (e.g., familiarity with SQL code on any platform)
  • Experience with Peoplesoft, Slate, MS Excel
  • Experience working in a University environment, with admissions experience preferred
  • Ability to consider the downstream impacts of changes and develop a plan to address those impacts
  • Provide excellent customer service, project management, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $25.15 - $26.44 hourly; $52,300 - $55,000 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment
