Overview We are looking for a strong engineer manager to lead a growing team, ensuring the reliability and usability of our cloud-based systems. This role requires hands-on leadership and strong people management skills, focusing on guiding a team of engineers to manage and optimize our infrastructure. Expertise in AWS and Kubernetes is essential, along with the ability to mentor, delegate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities: Build and lead the team through effective recruitment, mentoring, and leadership. Manage cross-functional collaboration with other engineering and security teams to develop best practices and standards for backend developers. Hands-on involvement to guide the team, but delegate technical tasks, ensuring engineers have the support and leadership needed to execute. Provide strategic direction to improve the reliability, scalability and security of our system. Requirements: 2+ years of experience in managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers, including hiring, retaining, and managing performance. 5+ years of work experience in a software engineering role, with proven technical leadership skills and expertise in designing scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Proficient in agile team software development and strong project management, delivering complex projects within defined timelines and resource constraints. Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating effectively, and aligning efforts to achieve common goals. Experience with python or Go, and familiarity with backend development flow including server-side framework and database system. Nice to have: Experience with Kubernetes and AWS Experience with service mesh such as Istio Hands-on leadership experience managing platform teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment. Experience implementing scalable and reliable solutions using modern cloud and DevOps practices. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs) Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
