A Day in the Life of a Water/Wastewater Engineer at Hanson
Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

  • Design water and wastewater infrastructure from concept through permitting, plan/specification production, and construction contract administration
  • Develop water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including hydraulic calculations and modeling
  • Design pump stations for potable water, wastewater, and stormwater applications
  • Design water and wastewater treatment units for municipal and industrial clients
  • Prepare calculations, quantity takeoffs, and opinions of probable construction costs
  • Produce plans and specifications and assist with permitting and technical reports
  • Collaborate with senior technical staff and participate in mentorship and team management
  • Stay current with industry innovations and integrate technological advances into engineering analyses
  • Interact with private and municipal clients in both public and private settings
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Excel, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, XPSWMM, and ArcGIS
  • Strong technical skills in water/wastewater collection/distribution systems, pump hydraulics, and treatment design
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in mentoring junior staff and managing design teams
  • Familiarity with Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) regulations

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or related Engineering field (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of project experience; 5-10 years preferred
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Advanced degrees or specialization in water/wastewater treatment design (preferred)

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $160,000, based on experience. Position is eligible for annual discretionary bonus.
