Primary Function: To provide leadership in the application ofinstructionaldesign theories and methodologies designed to help faculty build and facilitate quality courses in all modalities. Works closely with faculty to ensure their courses andinstructionalcontent and assessments reflect best practices in course design, accessibility standards, and copyright policies.

Responsibilities: (1) Support faculty in the development of new courses; (2) Support faculty in reviewing and revising existing courses; (3) Participate in quality assurance course checks prior to the start of each semester and share feedback with faculty; (4) Work closely with the Associate Dean of Online Learning and Educational Technology to design and offer professional development opportunities to help faculty be effective instructors; (5) Research and suggest emerging technologies to support instruction; (6) Support pilot studies which impact learning initiatives; (7) Help faculty determine if theirinstructionalcontent and assessments align with course learning objectives and guidelines for accessibility and applicable copyright laws; (8) Participate in special projects as assigned. (9) Maintain a regular and physical presence on campus including occasional nights and weekends; (10) Perform other responsibilities, as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Associate Dean of OLET for performance of assigned responsibilities; (2) Work collaboratively with ITS and the CTLT; (3) Work closely with faculty and staff; (4) Relate to College and department goals; (5) Function as an active member of the College's administrative team.

Performance Standards: Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) Mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified time frame. (2) Responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives. (3) Effective cooperative relationships exist between OLET and ITS, as well as with staff, faculty, and other members of the College community.

Qualifications: (1) Education: Bachelor's degree ininstructionaldesign, educational technology, or related field from a CouncilforHigherEducationAccreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional AccreditorInstitution required. Master's degree ininstructionaldesign is preferred. (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) broad understanding of learning theory andinstructionaldesign models; (b) demonstrated ability to evaluate courses usinginstructionaldesign standards; (c) competencies in technologies (e.g., learning management systems, AI, et al) used to build and facilitate courses; (d) competent in accessibility standards and copyright law as it pertains to content used in courses; (e) organizational, communicative, and leadership skills. (3) Experience: Professional work experience as aninstructional designerin an educational setting is strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience within a higher education setting is desirable.
