Community Connector

The Community Connector serves as a formal support and advocate for youth and families that are referred to Community Connections. Community Connections provides equitable access to resources for youth and families. Referrals to Community Connections include but are not limited to the Juvenile Justice Legal Clinic, Missing Youth Services program through Project Harmony, community agencies, self-referrals, etc.

Community Connectors work directly with youth and families, in a culturally responsive manner to prevent involvement or further involvement with law enforcement, the juvenile justice or child welfare systems. This is a grant funded position.


  • Associates Degree in Social Services or related field; and,
  • 3-5 years' experience working with the youth and families or child welfare and juvenile justice systems; Any equivalent combination of experience, training and education will be considered
  • Knowledge relating to supports and services for youth and families in their communities; or
  • Lived experience in child welfare and juvenile justice systems preferred
  • Must be willing to meet with families in the environment that is comfortable to them (home, neutral setting, office, etc.)
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve goals
  • Must be willing to travel between family homes, community agencies, schools, meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to change
  • Ability to plan, schedule and manage multiple activities at once
  • Ability to use sound judgement and timing in handling situations of a sensitive and difficult nature
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule as needs arise (i.e., ability to work evenings and weekends when needed)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Bilingual preferred
