The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process. They are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during surgical procedures as well as preparing the operating room, handling surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team. The OR RN will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and adhere to the highest standards and practice of patient safety, infection control and professional ethics.

Main Operating Room

The Main Operating Room at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a high-acuity surgical department within a Level I Trauma Center, providing comprehensive surgical care across a wide range of specialties, including cardiac, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgery, orthopedics, transplant, general surgery, robotics, and complex trauma. The department currently includes 20 operating rooms, including advanced hybrid and robotic surgical suites, and operates 24/7/365 to support elective, urgent, and emergent procedures. Team members work alongside multidisciplinary surgical teams utilizing advanced technology, including da Vinci robotic systems, hybrid OR capabilities, and integrated surgical platforms, while caring for some of the region's most complex surgical patients.

As an OR Nurse, a typical day might include:

• Scrubbing in and circulating in a variety of OR specialty areas such as Robotics, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Transplant, Neurology, Thoracic, Trauma, Cardiac, Vascular, ENT/Head and Neck, GYN, Urology and Bariatrics.
• Participation in complex surgeries using the latest technology in our state-of-the-art surgical suites.
• Serving as an integral member of the perioperative team and advocate for patients undergoing anesthesia and/or sedation.
• Working cooperatively with the multidisciplinary care team to maintain professional nursing practice standards in the perioperative setting
• Participating in shared clinical decision-making

To be considered for this opportunity, you must:

• Have an active RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Qualified individuals will also possess at minimum an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree
• Prior operating room experience or completion of a perioperative 101 course.
• A Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification is preferred.

Scheduling Requirements:

• Night shift, 36 hours per week, 7pm-7:30am
