Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor | Department of Anesthesiology | Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Position Summary:

The Department of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board certified/board eligible physician to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) faculty. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI, with clinical practice at Froedtert Hospital.

We are comprised of a nationally recognized and dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, research, and innovation. The CVICU provides care for a complex and diverse population of critically ill cardiovascular patients and works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the health system.

Position Highlights:
  • Provide comprehensive critical care to patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, including complex postoperative and critically ill cardiovascular patients.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary management of patients in collaboration with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team.
  • Participate in the education and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, APPs, and other learners.
  • Opportunities to participate in clinical research, quality improvement, education, and other scholarly activities based on individual interests and expertise.
  • Manage a high-acuity patient population with opportunities to care for patients requiring advanced cardiovascular and critical care therapies.
  • Utilize and develop expertise in advanced critical care procedures and technologies as appropriate to the candidate's training and experience.
  • Work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional initiatives that support clinical excellence, education, research, and continuous improvement.
  • Clinical responsibilities will primarily be within the CVICU at Froedtert Hospital, with the potential for additional clinical responsibilities based on departmental needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Chair or Chair-Designate.
Schedule:
  • Full-time faculty position with clinical responsibilities within the CVICU.
  • Schedule and clinical responsibilities will be determined based on departmental and CVICU needs.
  • Participate in the CVICU call schedule as assigned.
  • Salaried (Exempt) position.

Qualifications
  • Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, or another applicable specialty.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Critical Care Medicine is required.
  • State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain licensure, in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Eligible for appropriate hospital and medical staff privileges.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in the care of critically ill cardiovascular patients preferred.
  • Experience with advanced cardiovascular critical care, postoperative cardiac patients, or complex medical/surgical critical care preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teaching skills.
  • Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful finalist.
