Assistant Professor of School Psychology

All faculty at Georgia State are, as part of their essential job duties, expected to: (1) be physically present on-campus as needed to contribute to Georgia State's in-person educational experience, and (2) be able to teach in each of the following instructional modalities - in-person, online, or blended/hybrid - as determined by their Department Chair or Dean.

The department has nine graduate programs, including three doctoral programs (Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education and Practice, and School Psychology) and three CACREP master's programs (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling), and offers Ed.S. degrees in both School Counseling and School Psychology. The School Psychology Program, Department of Counseling and Psychological Services, and Georgia State University have a strong commitment to contextualizing interventions and psychological practice to the backgrounds of those we serve.

The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the School Psychology PhD and MEd/EdS programs. We seek an innovative scholar whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to the continued growth and national prominence of our programs and research initiatives. We welcome applicants with expertise in areas aligned with the foundational strengths of school psychology, including but not limited to consultation, prevention science, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports ( PBIS), inclusive education, early intervention and school readiness, school mental health, and culturally responsive practices. The successful candidate will maintain a focused and impactful program of research with strong potential for external funding and a demonstrated commitment to advancing knowledge that improves outcomes for children, youth, families, and schools. The ideal candidate will develop a collaborative research agenda that actively engages and mentors doctoral students while fostering interdisciplinary partnerships across the university and broader community. We are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship can contribute to innovative solutions for contemporary educational and mental health challenges and who are committed to translating research into meaningful practice and policy.

The individual chosen for this position must have an earned doctorate from an APA accredited program in school psychology at the time of appointment.

- Active participation in research activities, including scholarship and professional presentations

- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

o Expertise in key areas of school psychology curriculum

o Expertise in research methodology sufficient to mentor doctoral students' research

* Skills:

o Proficient in conducting and publishing scholarly research.

o Effective mentorship skills for graduate students including chairing dissertations

o Strong teaching skills with the ability to design and deliver graduate-level

school psychology courses.

* Abilities:

o Ability to develop and maintain a focused line of research and secure external funding.

o Ability to serve as core faculty in a graduate program in School Psychology.

Eligibility for licensure as a psychologist and/or certification as a school psychologist in Georgia is preferred.
