Vice President of Operations The Vice President of Operations is responsible for driving profitable growth, operational excellence, and scalable systems across all retail locations. This leader ensures consistent execution, strong accountability, and financial discipline across the organization while preserving our culture of exceptional service, integrity, and ownership. The VP of Operations translates company strategy into disciplined field execution, enabling sustainable growth and operational consistency across the retail network. Key Responsibilities 1. Profit & Performance Ownership
- Own retail EBITDA performance across all locations
- Drive same-store sales growth and margin expansion
- Monitor and continuously improve key operational metrics, including:
- Gross Profit %
- Labor %
- Service mix performance (alignments, oil change %, etc.)
- Average ticket value
- Conversion rates
- Lead weekly KPI review cadence with District Managers
- Implement corrective action plans for underperforming locations
2. District Manager Leadership & Accountability
- Directly lead and develop District Managers
- Establish clear performance expectations and scorecards
- Conduct quarterly business reviews across all districts
- Build organizational bench strength and succession plans
- Elevate team performance through coaching, development, and talent upgrades when necessary
- This role requires a leader who is comfortable making organizational and leadership changes to maintain operational standards.
3. Operational Systems & Scalability
- Standardize and enforce operating procedures across all stores
- Improve operational execution in areas including:
- Inventory receiving accuracy
- Compliance and documentation discipline
- Workforce scheduling efficiency
- Bay utilization and throughput
- Partner with Procurement and Finance to reduce operational waste
- Ensure new store openings launch on schedule, on budget, and operationally prepared
4. Customer Experience & Brand Consistency
- Own execution of brand standards at the store level
- Monitor and audit customer experience performance metrics
- Ensure locations consistently reflect our brand standards, including cleanliness, professionalism, and service quality
- Reduce customer complaints, service errors, and rework
5. New Store Openings & Acquisition Integration
- Lead operational integration of newly acquired locations
- Develop and execute structured 30-60-90 day integration plans
- Ensure cultural alignment with our operational standards
- Oversee grand openings and post-launch operational stabilization
6. Budget & Financial Discipline
- Partner with the CFO on retail budgeting and forecasting
- Hold districts accountable to expense and profitability targets
- Improve labor modeling and scheduling discipline
- Drive cost control and operational efficiency initiatives
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Success in this role will be measured by:
- Retail EBITDA performance
- Same-store sales growth
- Labor % vs. target
- Gross margin improvement
- Inventory compliance and shrink reduction
- Customer satisfaction metrics
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of managing multi-location, retail, automotive, service, or similarly complex operating environments.
- 5+ years of senior multi-unit leadership experience, including direct oversight of District Managers, Regional Managers, or comparable field leadership positions.
- 5+ years' experience leading new store openings, acquisitions, operational integrations, or significant organizational change initiatives, including the ability to develop and execute structured integration plans.
- Proven experience owning or materially influencing P&L and EBITDA performance across multiple locations, with a strong understanding of the relationship between revenue, gross margin, labor, operating expenses, and profitability.
- Strong financial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial statements, analyze operating metrics, develop budgets and forecasts, identify financial variances, and translate financial results into actionable operational plans.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively partner with the CEO, CFO, executive leadership team, District Managers, and store-level teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and execution skills, with the ability to translate company objectives into clear field-level priorities, measurable goals, and consistent execution.
- Demonstrated executive presence, sound judgment, and decision-making ability, particularly in high-growth, high-accountability environments.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% locally, with additional national travel as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent leadership experience may be considered.
