Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Peer Education and housed within the Office of Active Learning, the Academic Coaching Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating and implementing the Academic Coaching program, a student-centered initiative designed to strengthen students' learning strategies, academic confidence, and engagement in active learning. The program supports undergraduate student success by providing individualized peer academic coaching that promotes metacognitive skill development, effective learning strategies, and active participation before, during, and after class. This position facilitates the implementation and operations of the Academic Coaching program throughout its lifecycle.
The Coordinator works closely with faculty, campus partners, and Office of Active Learning staff, including the Peer Tutoring Coordinator, Peer Learning Assistant Coordinator, and Payroll Specialist, to facilitate program logistics, maintain policies and records, support program assessment, and ensure consistent communication with stakeholders across campus.
The Coordinator serves as a primary operational point of contact for students and coaches participating in the Academic Coaching program and assists in implementing program initiatives designed to strengthen a largescale, campuswide academic support program that enhances student success and active learning
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Understanding of student development theory, academic coaching, holistic student support, and student success, with demonstrated experience implementing studentfocused programs and workshops.
  • Knowledge of the unique needs of different student populations, and the ability to plan and deliver responsive programming that enhances their academic and personal success.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate logistics and execute events and programs with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with various student populations and campus stakeholders.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supervising student staff, including providing constructive feedback and supporting their professional development.
  • Knowledge of UGA campus systems, digital communication tools, social media platforms, and basic design or web content tools to support programming and outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams in a dynamic, fastpaced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to use AIenabled tools that support student onboarding, training, or reective practice is preferred.

Program Coordination and Operations
Facilitate the implementation and ongoing operation of the Academic Coaching program in alignment with program goals, policies, and priorities established by the Peer Education team leadership within the Ofce of Active Learning.

  • Lead the Academic Coaching program as a student-facing extension of active learning pedagogy.
  • Recruit and onboard volunteer academic coaches from faculty, staff, and student leadership populations.
  • Prepare coaches to effectively support students in active, student-centered learning environments.
  • Develop, deliver, and continuously refine Academic Coach training and professional development workshops aligned with active learning principles.
  • Facilitate the Inside Track Foundational Coach Training for faculty, staff, and volunteer coaches.
  • Monitor coach performance and ensure all coaches meet established training, quality, and program standards.
  • Maintain and oversee scheduling, training, and communication systems to support consistent, efficient, and scalable program delivery.
  • Ensure coaching practices promote student engagement before, during, and after class while reinforcing effective learning strategies.
  • Oversee program communication and outreach efforts to promote PLA recruitment, increase program visibility, and support engagement across academic departments.
  • Maintain program documentation, resources, and operational systems to ensure consistency, efciency, and effective program delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Coordinator of Peer Education to support the integration of AIenabled tools that enhance PLA onboarding, training, and reective practice.

Peer Coaching Program Development and Student Staff Supervision
Develop a Peer Academic Coaching program. Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and supervise undergraduate Peer Academic Coaches.

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Peer Academic Coaching program aligned with active learning and student success goals.
  • Develop the program framework, including Inside Track coaching philosophy, service model, policies, learning outcomes, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to identify referral pathways, promote the program, and integrate peer coaching into broader student success initiatives.
  • Lead recruitment processes to support Peer Academic Coach hiring each semester, including application review and candidate communication.
  • Provide supervision, performance assessment, and guidance to ensure effective Peer Academic Coach performance and program outcomes, including addressing concerns with students in coordination with program leadership.
  • Approve student payroll for student employees.
  • Manage the administration of CRLA certication processes, including tracking completion of requirements.

Facilitate program evaluation and assessment efforts that contribute to program improvement and effectiveness.
Responsibilities include:


  • Collect and organize program participation and outcome data to support program evaluation, reporting, future planning, and CRLA compliance.
  • Monitor program feedback submitted by students and respond to concerns or questions.
  • Provide programlevel insights to the Associate Director of Peer Education & Learning Innovation to inform portfoliowide assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Support social media and marketing efforts by helping promote the program and increase awareness of services and opportunities.
  • Establish assessment strategies to evaluate peer academic coaching program effectiveness, student learning outcomes, and operational success, using data to drive continuous improvement. Pilot, assess, and refine the peer academic coaching program through iterative implementation, incorporating feedback from students, peer coaches, and campus stakeholders to support future growth and scalability

Engage in program outreach, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic initiatives that enhance the visibility and effectiveness of peer education programs.

  • Serve as an Academic Coach.
  • Collaborate with Peer Education staff supporting the Peer Tutoring and Peer Learning Assistant Programs and other peer education initiatives to support a coherent, integrated peer education model.
  • Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, committees, or working groups as requested.
  • Represent the Active Learning program at university events, including New Student Orientation and other outreach activities.
  • Engage in professional development and stay informed about emerging best practices in active learning and peer education.
  • Complete additional projects or initiatives as assigned.

  • Develop and maintain evidence-informed resources on time management, study strategies, metacognition, goal setting, and other academic coaching topics.
  • Create individualized coaching portfolios using AI-enabled tools to provide coaches and students with real-time insights into learning behaviors, skill development, and progress toward academic goals.
  • Design and update coaching materials, guides, and digital resources that support student success in active learning environments.
  • Evaluate and refine coaching resources based on assessment data, emerging best practices, and student feedback.
  • Research and integrate innovative technologies and evidence-based practices to enhance the effectiveness and accessibility of academic coaching resources.
