Make Your Mark as a Privacy Compliance Specialist

Are you a seasoned privacy professional ready to drive critical compliance initiatives and safeguard sensitive data? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to step into a pivotal role within our client's compliance team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert guidance, shape data protection strategies, and ensure adherence to evolving privacy laws and regulations across the enterprise. You will play a crucial part in strengthening the organization's privacy posture, directly impacting how personal data is handled ethically and securely, and contributing to the trust and confidence of our customers.

What You'll Do



  • Develop deep expertise in applicable and emerging data privacy laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards to provide expert advice and guidance across the business (e.g., project teams, developers, operational teams, etc.) in relation to data privacy to ensure compliance with privacy requirements, as well as the ethical use and processing of personal data.
  • Support the overall privacy compliance program by refining and managing effective data protection and privacy governance activities, including management of governance committee and participation in design/enhancement of processes related to Data Mapping, Data Subject Access Requests, and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  • Create and maintain an inventory of applicable laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs), policies and procedures (P&Ps), and control mapping.
  • Manage effective reporting processes and regulatory/P&P change management.
  • Prepare metrics and reporting, including design of KPIs/KRIs, for committee and other audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Design and conduct monitoring and testing plans and exercises, and partner with other QA/QC teams to enhance existing exercises.
  • Identify, manage, and track to resolution privacy-related issues across businesses.
  • Support the enterprise privacy compliance program and partner closely with Legal, Information Security, and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with evolving privacy laws and regulations.


Must-Have Qualifications



  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Privacy, Compliance, Risk Management, Governance, or a related field.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Privacy laws, Regulations, Corporate Policies, and Compliance Frameworks in a business environment.
  • Comfortable reading, interpreting, and applying lengthy legal and regulatory documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity suites.
  • Drivers License.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications



  • Experience supporting or participating in:

    • Privacy compliance programs
    • Data governance initiatives
    • Regulatory reporting
    • Policy and procedure management
    • KPI/KRI reporting
    • Compliance monitoring and testing
    • Data Mapping
    • Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)
    • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)


  • Experience partnering with Information Security or Cybersecurity teams is helpful, but a cybersecurity background is not required.
  • Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) concepts or tools is considered a plus.
  • IAPP CIPP certification (especially CIPP-US).
  • Previous Privacy Compliance experience.
  • Experience working with legal or regulatory compliance programs.
  • Exposure to Information Security or Data Privacy initiatives.
  • Experience supporting enterprise governance or compliance reporting.


Compensation

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $55-$60/hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.

Location:

This is a W2 HYBRID opportunity in New York City, requiring 3 days onsite / 2 days remote. Only local candiate will be considered. This role is to cover a leave of absence and will last through the end of the year (possible extension).
