In General

TMG's Director of Operations - Interiors is responsible for creating a new business unit within TMG focused on quality, high-end and responsive construction for the select private sector through negotiated or limited select-bid-list processes. The Interiors will include projects ranging from $100K to $5M+ through incremental growth and repeat customers. The customers shall be business partners that are fair-minded, non-litigious, and properly capitalized, and will range from, but are not limited to, real estate brokers/developers, SCIFs for defense contractors/government, data center fit-outs, in the aviation market, and potentially a health care capability.

The Director will develop, lead and manage the day-to-day operations of TMG's estimating, construction, and design/build operations for this dedicated business unit. The responsibilities of the position are focused on communicating, managing and creating new customer relationships, operational resources, and technical expertise needed to achieve customer satisfaction, employee effectiveness, safety, quality, profitability, and sound business practices necessary to accomplish TMG's work program.

The role includes management of strategically targeted customer work programs with recurring construction and design-build requirements; responsibility for the estimating and capture process; development of profitable growth opportunities; support of long-term strategic planning initiatives; and promotion of TMG's Mission, Principles, Values, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). The Director serves as a senior operational leader responsible for developing future leaders, promoting collaboration across departments, and driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Responsibilities



  • Ensure that the financial, safety, quality, and operating Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) related to assigned business units are attained.
  • Drive the business development process by providing technical expertise to estimate, schedule, develop capture strategies, and support project-specific technical writing efforts.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute business unit growth plans focused on targeted customers and market sectors.
  • Develop new business opportunities through the cultivation of customer relationships while maintaining and strengthening existing customer relationships.
  • Maintain regular contact with TMG customers to ensure ongoing work is performed to their satisfaction and that TMG remains positioned for future opportunities.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and resources to Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and other operational personnel.
  • Lead bid strategy, estimating reviews, risk assessments, and proposal development efforts.
  • Implement operational and estimating best practices to improve win rates, profitability, and project execution.
  • Visit project sites regularly to review project status, profitability, safety, staffing, customer satisfaction, and team morale.
  • Develop operating unit budgets and oversee project budgets, cost reports, cash flow, profitability, and key company metrics.
  • Participate in hiring, succession planning, training, coaching, and staff development initiatives.
  • Work with corporate departments and field personnel to improve business practices, systems, and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage collection efforts related to aged accounts receivable and assist in the resolution of payment disputes.
  • Support contract review processes and operational risk mitigation efforts.
  • Promote and ensure consistent implementation of TMG's Mission, Principles, Values, Strategic Plan, and OKRs.


  • Seek opportunities to improve productivity, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Provide second-party review and approval of significant project expenditures, estimates, and operational decisions to ensure accountability and consistency.

Minimum Qualifications



  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with a minimum of 12 years of experience with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor, or 18+ years of directly related experience without a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience leading estimating and operational aspects of a general building and/or design-build contractor business unit generating annual revenues of $30 million or greater.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple project teams and operating units simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial, institutional, federal, and design-build construction.
  • Proven experience managing customer relationships and developing new business opportunities.
  • Experience in government contracting is a plus



Proficient with construction management, scheduling, estimating, and accounting software.



  • Current OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
  • Current USACE/NAVFAC CQC Certification.
  • Professional credentials such as Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), Professional Engineer (PE), DBIA, or similar credentials are preferred.


A grace period of up to six months may be allowed to obtain the stated credentials.
