Georgia Tech Office of Development (DEV)

Our fundraising team at Georgia Tech currently consists of more than 100 professionals who are focused on securing transformative philanthropy (major and principal gifts) to support the strategic priorities of the Institute and its colleges, schools, and programs, including Georgia Tech Athletics. For fiscal year 2024 (closed 6/30/2024), the Development team's efforts resulted in over $243 million in new gifts and commitments in support of Transforming Tomorrow: The Campaign for Georgia Tech which will secure more than $2 billion in new commitments and gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other organizations. One of the most significant priorities within Transforming Tomorrow is ensuring access of the brightest undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to Georgia Tech, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. Job Summary

This position supports the Institute in fulfilling its responsibilities for gift compliance by ensuring expendable and endowment funds are expended in accordance with donor intent and that administrative obligations of the gift agreement are met; assists campus partners on matters related to gift compliance, such as interpretation of donor intent and gift repurposing process; and ensures proper stewardship of all funds is maintained. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Donor Experiences & Operations and will oversee the Gift Compliance and Stewardship teams.

Typically, will interact consistently with: Donors, Institute and GTF staff, faculty, and Office of Development personnel.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Ensure institutional compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Georgia Tech policies related to donor intent, restricted gifts, and the appropriate, timely use of philanthropic funds.

Job Duty 2 -
Oversee monitoring and auditing of donor-funded accounts, utilizing detailed financial and development data to ensure funds are used as intended, identify underutilized or inactive funds, and address compliance risks.

Job Duty 3 -
Partner with academic and administrative leadership (deans, directors, senior finance staff, Development, and Institute leadership) to review fund usage, interpret donor intent, and develop alternative utilization plans when needed.

Job Duty 4 -
Partner with Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to ensure efficient and timely use of funds, enhance stewardship, and augment collaboration, communication, and critical updates.

Job Duty 5 -
Serve as a resource for restricted fund compliance and accountability, providing guidance and support to finance officers, fund administrators, and campus partners.

Job Duty 6 -
Develop, enhance, and maintain sustainable processes for fund monitoring, documentation management, data accuracy, and financial accountability, incorporating technology and automation to streamline reporting, and including audits of gift designations and donor restrictions.

Job Duty 7 -
Work with the Associate Director of Gift Compliance to oversee the creation of gift documentation, including gift agreements, naming agreements, endowed positions, faculty support funds, and pledge and planned giving forms; share finalized documentation and amendments with relevant stakeholders.

Job Duty 8 -
Support stewardship and reporting efforts, including timely spending facilitation, endowed and expendable fund reporting, and collaboration to collect and share fund usage information for donor stewardship.

Job Duty 9 -
Educate and communicate with the Institute community on restricted fund usage, donor intent, and compliance requirements through outreach, training, and resources. Manage and lead the Gift Compliance and Stewardship teams, ensuring consistent application of policies, effective collaboration, and continuous process improvement. Perform related duties in support of donor compliance, stewardship, and institutional priorities as assigned.

Educational Requirements
4 Year / Bachelors Degree

Required Experience
8+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of supervisory knowledge

Proposed Salary

Proposed salary is $87,672 - $119,234 commensurate with education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, budgets, and financial reports, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using CRM systems and databases.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising operations and reporting, with familiarity in a higher-education or nonprofit advancement environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across departments, while also working independently to achieve goals and deliver exceptional donor and customer service.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadline-driven projects in a complex, evolving environment.

SKILLS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities, deadlines, and occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, including the ability to input or edit information into spreadsheets or data management systems, search and retrieve information, and generate standard reports.
