Academic Success and Advising (ASA), a unit of the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Success,(OUESS), is where students take academic success to the next level. The position reports to the Director of Undergraduate Advising Operations and Engagement in Academic Success and Advising (ASA), a unit within the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (OUESS). The position will work in close coordination with GTAA, Registrar's Office, Office of Student Achievement, UG Admission, and other units engaged with advising and transfer students.

Note on Working Time
This position must be available to work standard GT business hours M-F, 8-5 (or 7-4 or 9-6), as well as some evenings as weekends based on student programs and with advanced notice. Job Summary

Serve as a key team member in Academic Success & Advising (ASA), a unit in the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (OUESS). Provide leadership in training and professional development to advising, career services, and other stakeholders. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, advisors, and undergraduate students. This position typically will advise and counsel: Undergraduate students, faculty, staff, campus partners, and stakeholders. This position will supervise: Assigned staff and students.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Provide comprehensive academic advising to students, focusing on those considering major changes, seeking minors or certificates, or facing academic difficulties, while connecting them with appropriate support resources.

Job Duty 2 -
Oversee the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of advising
programs, aligning with strategic goals.

Job Duty 3 -
Provide advising and onboarding support for students, coordinating with UG Admission Support campus initiatives focused on student retention and success, including contributing to FASET Orientation, Welcome Programs, and other transition/success programs.

Job Duty 4 -
Teach a section (as lead instructor) of GT2000 (or equivalent course as determined by supervisor) each academic year.

Job Duty 5 -
Develop and implement workshops, webinars, and promotional materials to guide students in academic planning, experiential learning opportunities, and overall success strategies.

Job Duty 6 -
Regularly communicate with GTAAN and advising communities regarding programming, opportunities, and updates.

Job Duty 7 -
Collaborate with Undergraduate Curricular Initiatives and the Undergraduate Career Education team in the Career Center to align exploratory advising practices with curricular changes and career advising efforts, supporting students as they explore and select majors.

Job Duty 8 -
Manage program operations, including maintaining the website, preparing reports, and analyzing data to inform future programming.

Supervise and support the advising team, conducting performance reviews and

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree

Required Experience
Five to six years of relevant experience in advising, coaching, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education and System Knowledge
Additional professional certification in advising, coaching or related field strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to utilize systems, such as Slate, BANNER, EAB Navigate360 and Degree Works to assess the full scope of a students academic record.

Preferred Experience
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows and deadlines.
Experience supporting transfer credit evaluation and/or degree audit processes.
3-5 years direct or related experience working in academic advising, transfer services, registrar operations, or transfer student success operations.
Advanced training and/or course work completion that focuses on challenges and successes of transfer student populations, understanding of transfer educational experiences, and barriers to success
Experience working with transfer student athletes.
Proven track record of partnering with campus stakeholders to improve transfer pathways and outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ten years of relevant experience in advising, coaching or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
This position must work effectively with the entire undergraduate advising community, which is made up of staff and faculty working in all academic units, as well as in Student Life, International Education, Career Center/services, Registrar's Office, Enrollment Management, and GT Athletics Association. The ability to influence and lead through relationship building is key.

SKILLS
This job requires ability to use student information systems, student advising software, and learning management system; excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal); familiarity with Excel; familiarity with assessment practices in higher education; knowledge of developmental academic advising theory; ability to stay abreast of current advising literature and practices; presentation (oral, online) skills; ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
Specialized skills preferred: Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practices related to academic advising and student success. Knowledge of GT programs of study, general education requirements.

Knowledge
The Assistant Director of Transfer Advising Operations plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth, equitable, and student-centered advising experience. This position provides primary leadership for the operational infrastructure supporting transfer student advising, including oversight of transfer credit evaluation workflows, coordination of transfer portal related processes, and alignment of undergraduate advising policies and procedures. The role partners closely with campus stakeholders to strengthen transfer pathways, ensure compliance and consistency, and improve transfer student outcomes.

Transfer Advising Operations- Coordinate and support transfer student advising operations by serving as a liaison among campus partners, providing guidance to transfer pathway students and advisors, monitoring transfer-related processes, and ensuring the timely evaluation of credits, degree applicability, and student progress toward degree completion.

Systems, Data, and Reporting- Develop and analyze transfer student reports and metrics to support operational decision-making, improve advising practices, maintain advising procedures, and ensure effective use of EAB Navigate360 and other transfer advising systems.

Process Improvement and Training- Collaborate with advising leadership and campus partners to develop, implement, and continuously improve transfer advising processes, training, resources, communications, and student-facing materials that enhance advisor effectiveness, operational consistency, and the transfer student experience.

Collaboration and Communication- Partner with academic and student support units to coordinate services for transfer students, address complex cases, and ensure clear, timely communication of processes, expectations, and resources that support student success.
