Summary:

The General Supervisor, under the guidance of the Laboratory Director and Technical Supervisor, is responsible for the daily supervision of testing personnel. The General Supervisor will collaborate with the Director on process improvements, such as new assay validations and workflow enhancements, and facilitate relevant continuing education for the technical staff.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. 1.Education:Minimum Bachelor's degree required, and either:

    a) a doctorate in medicine, osteopathy, or podiatry; license to practice medicine or eligible for a license to practice medicine in the state of Maine; AND at least three years of laboratory training and experience in high complexityHLA-related testing in an ASHI-accredited or equivalent laboratoryor,

    b) a doctoral, masters, or bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology; AND at least three years of laboratory training and experience in high complexity HLA-related testing in an ASHI-accredited or equivalent laboratory.

    1. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:

    a.Technical experience in test performance, interpretation and reporting of the following technologies:

    i.HLA antibody testing (Luminex single antigen, solid phase screening assays)

    ii.Molecular HLA genotyping

    iii.Cell based crossmatching (flow cytometric and cytotoxic)

    b.Conceptual knowledge and experience:Working knowledge of the HLA system and basic immunology;Understanding of the process of transplantation and organ allocation system;ABO system

    c.Experience with the following laboratory and organ allocation systems:UNET (Waitlist, DonorNet);HistoTrac;EPIC / Beaker
