Overview

To facilitate the movement of patients throughout the hospital in a safe, timely, and efficient manner that is in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. To provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team. To support the team in the provision of patient care when not transporting.
Qualifications

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: , Work Experience:
Responsibilities

Uses proper two (2) patient identifiers for patient safety.
Demonstrates knowledge of the cognitive and sensory needs and abilities of all patient populations. Communicates with patients, families, and staff members effectively.
Applies portable telemetry monitoring for transport. Contacts telemetry staff at time of transport and when patient arrives at their final destination.
Uses correct body mechanics/lifting techniques when transferring patients. Uses lift equipment as required. Uses and maintains equipment in proper operating order. Identifies any broken equipment and labels it for repair.
Completes training and demonstrates skills in operating a wheelchair, bed, and cart safely and efficiently according to established policies and procedures.
Follows bloodborne pathogens, infection control, and universal precautions policies.
Cleans equipment after each use to avoid the spread of disease.
Works independently and utilizes the appropriate resources to maintain efficient operations.
Follows oxygen usage guidelines as set by the hospital.
Informs nurse when patient is departing or arriving on the unit. Reports any changes in patient condition promptly. Follows all safety and fall precautions.
Inquires if the patient needs any assistance of additional comfort measures. Uses age appropriate measures. Offers extra blankets, pillows/comfort measures as needed.
Follows all confidentiality policies and procedures of the hospital.
Attends department hospital education and meetings.
Follows all Carle Behavior Values and Standards. Enters safety events into RLDatix.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $15per hour - $24.32per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
