Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment integrity, supporting timely repairs, and reducing unscheduled downtime. This role performs mechanical and electrical maintenance on production machinery and facility support equipment while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, food safety, GMP, Lockout/Tagout, and OSHA standards.

Job Responsibilities




  • Support the preventative maintenance program to reduce unscheduled equipment downtime.



  • Troubleshoot equipment issues by analyzing problems and interpreting technical information.



  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on production machinery and facility support equipment.



  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and confirm completed repairs.



  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and plant electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, instrumentation, distribution systems, and feed control systems.



  • Complete assigned work orders within required timeframes.



  • Maintain accurate records of work performed using maintenance software, work orders, and detailed logs.



  • Assist with equipment changeovers and line startups, troubleshooting issues as needed.



  • Identify required parts and maintain current inventory and reorder lists.



  • Help ensure all products are manufactured to high quality standards.



  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team projects.



  • Communicate effectively with team members across departments.




Job Requirements




  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance practices.



  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and plant systems.



  • Ability to follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, GMP, food safety standards, personal safety standards, and OSHA requirements.



  • Ability to lift 50 to 80 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.



  • Ability to stand for eight or more hours and perform repetitive motions.



  • Ability to climb ladders and stairways and use manlifts or scissor lifts at ceiling height or above with proper safety equipment.



  • Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.



  • Ability to walk frequently, use hands to handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.



  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and detect odors.



  • Comfortable working around oils, greases, coolants, wet or humid conditions, heights, chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and vibration.



  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
