Description

Lipscomb Academy is seeking a passionate, organized, and relational leader to serve as an Assistant Athletic Director. This position plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the athletic department while helping create transformative experiences for student-athletes, coaches, families, and guests.

The Assistant Athletic Director will assist with game day administration, facility and event operations, student engagement initiatives, transportation needs, and oversight of designated athletic areas/programs. Coaching responsibilities may also be assigned based on experience and departmental needs.

This position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a willingness to serve in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that aligns with the mission and values of Lipscomb Academy.

Essential Responsibilities

Athletic Event & Game Day Administration




  • Coordinate and oversee game day operations for home and away athletic events



  • Assist with scheduling and management of event workers, gate operations, officials, and security



  • Ensure facilities are properly prepared before, during, and after contests



  • Serve as an on-site administrator for assigned athletic events



  • Help create a positive and hospitable environment for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and visiting schools



  • Assist with crowd management and event supervision




Game Day & Facility Set-Up




  • Coordinate athletic facility set-up and breakdown for practices, games, and special events



  • Oversee equipment organization and operational readiness



  • Assist in maintaining clean, safe, and professional athletic spaces



  • Support facility scheduling and operational logistics




Transportation & CDL Responsibilities




  • Safely transport students and teams to athletic events and school-related activities as needed



  • Maintain all required CDL certifications and comply with school transportation policies



  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles



  • Coordinate transportation logistics with coaches and athletic staff




Student Engagement & Athletic Culture




  • Help develop initiatives that increase school spirit, student involvement, and community engagement at athletic events



  • Collaborate with students, coaches, and campus groups to enhance the game day atmosphere



  • Support student leadership opportunities within athletics



  • Promote the mission and values of Lipscomb Academy through positive relationships and mentorship




Program Oversight & Athletic Operations




  • Provide oversight and leadership for assigned operational areas within the athletic department, such as:




    • Fitness and weight room operations



    • Equipment management



    • Athletic facilities



    • Student workers and interns





  • Assist with departmental communication and organizational systems



  • Support special events, camps, and athletic department initiatives




Coaching Responsibilities




  • Coaching duties may be assigned based on candidate experience and departmental needs



  • Support the holistic development of student-athletes spiritually, academically, athletically, and personally



  • Model professionalism, integrity, and servant leadership




Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree preferred



  • Experience in athletics, education, event management, coaching, or related field preferred



  • CDL license (or willingness to obtain) preferred



  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills



  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours based on athletic schedules



  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment



  • Commitment to the mission and values of Lipscomb Academy
