ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

TES is looking for a temporary Food Service Manager to support the Medical Center.

Duration: This assignment is anticipated to be 12+ months.

Compensation and Benefits: $34.48 -$38.03 per hourly exempt. Eligible for Mid-level Medical Benefits, Vacation, Sick, and Holiday pay.

Work Schedule: 12:30P - 9:00P - Thursday - Monday. Hours can vary

Location 100% onsite in La Jolla

DESCRIPTION

The Food Service Manager is responsible for the total operations in a food service installation. Responsible for front-line food service staff, production staff, sanitation staff, retail service staff, and other personnel as needed. Performs a wide-variety of duties related to the management of food production, patient meal and retail service in accordance with established policies, procedures and quality standards. Responsible for ensuring staff is compliant with department and organization standards. Responsible for training and monitoring of staff with infection prevention practices (sanitation, hand-hygiene, food safety), job performance, customer service standards, conducting annual performance evaluations, initiation of disciplinary action with (consultation by manager and labor relations) and department opening or closing duties. Assists in the development, revision, and monitoring of staff work flows, training, and coaching new and current staff. Performs cash handling procedures, monitors and is responsible for the cash handling competency of retail staff, and supports department compliance efforts with regard to campus cash handling guidelines. Utilizes department specific tools to maintain regulatory compliance and provide excellent customer service and service recovery. Performs other related Food Service Manager tasks as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience/education.

  • Experience and working knowledge in food service and sanitation regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ServSafe Certification or equivalent certification.

  • Direct patient care experience.

  • Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in food service management or dietetics, preferably in a food service operation in a large, complex institution or healthcare organization setting.

  • Supervisory experience, preferably in the food service industry.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and Requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as Required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the Required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $55,400 - $93,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $44.92

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
