An HDR Senior ITS Engineer provides project and task leadership in planning, designing, and implementing technology solutions for transportation challenges. This role is part of HDR's Advanced Technology for Surface Transportation (ATST) business class, which primarily serves government agencies. This position will also be responsible for building and maintaining client relationships and helping clients identify and implement innovative transportation technology solutions. This role offers the opportunity to help shape and grow HDR's transportation technology, digital infrastructure, and intelligent transportation systems services in Missouri, Kansas, and nationally.
Preferred Qualifications
MSCE Diverse Experience in related fields such as toll roads, roadway design, or construction Interest in client development, mentoring, and growing transportation technology services Experience working with state DOTs, local agencies, Federal government Active role in professional organizations Familiarity with Traffic Engineering concepts like signal timing, ATSPMs, adaptive traffic control systems, priority systems, and traffic-responsive systems Understanding of fiber optic networks Excellent written and verbal communication skills Interest in or progress toward Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification Interest in data analytics

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages
- Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
