General Description:

The Radiographer II is an experienced professional who, under general supervision, performs routine Diagnostic X-Ray examinations with increased independence, using fixed and/or portable equipment in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines and quality standards. Provides exceptional patient care while working towards expertise in the discipline.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Utilizes advanced skill set and knowledge to perform diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider in routine or emergent conditions under limited supervision.

• Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patientcentric care.

• Assists with basic fluoroscopic procedures when required.

• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physicianordered exams to support appropriate imaging.

• Safely administers contrast per protocol and identifies, manages, and escalates contrast reactions and changes in patient condition.

• Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.

• Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.

• Conducts post-testing quality reviews without assistance to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.

• Accurately documents in EMR/PACS per organizational policies and procedures.

• Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.

• Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.

• Ensures that technical quality of performed testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.

• Serves as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.

• Supports OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.

• Actively contributes to protocol optimization and dose reduction efforts in collaboration with the care team.

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge by preparing and presenting in-service trainings as requested by leadership.

• Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as assigned.

• Assists with ordering and maintaining inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available

• May provide on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Radiographer required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) andARRT(RT) Certification required at hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Core knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology; radiologic technologies and terminology associated with Diagnostic X-Ray. Ability and skill to apply core-level primary specialty theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation with limited supervision or assistance.

• Ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.

• Ability to function with increased independence and clinical judgment across diverse care settings.

• Ability to exercise independent judgment in accordance with approved protocols.

• Knowledge of imaging and Diagnostic X-Ray policies, procedures, techniques, and processes
