Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled MidLevel Business Analyst to support the development and implementation of a modernization framework for two existing business applications. The ideal candidate will have handson experience analyzing legacy systems, defining business and technical requirements, and collaborating with crossfunctional teams to drive modernization initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in dynamic environments where the targetstate architecture and processes are evolving.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Analysis & Documentation

    Elicit, analyze, and document functional and nonfunctional requirements from business stakeholders, subjectmatter experts, and technical teams.
  • Develop clear and accurate artifacts such as Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and decision logs.
  • Translate business needs into system requirements aligned with modern architectures and cloudready designs.

Legacy System & Modernization Support

  • Assess existing applications to understand architecture, workflows, data flows, integrations, pain points, and constraints.
  • Support gap analysis activities by mapping currentstate processes and defining detailed futurestate workflows.
  • Identify modernization opportunities including rehosting, refactoring, replatforming, or functional enhancements.
  • Assist in developing modernization framework components such as guiding principles, target capabilities, and migration pathways.

Data, Integration, and Technical Coordination

  • Document data requirements, data mappings, sourcetotarget transformations, and integration needs between systems.
  • Work closely with solution architects, developers, and security teams to ensure requirements are technically feasible and fully understood.
  • Support definition of API, interface, and workflow requirements for modernized components.

Agile/Project Support

  • Create and maintain a prioritized product backlog aligned with modernization milestones and stakeholder needs.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog grooming.
  • Conduct change impact assessments to identify business, process, and user impacts resulting from modernization activities.
  • Provide traceability between requirements, system components, and test cases.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, user interviews, and working groups.
  • Communicate complex topics clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Provide regular status updates, risk/issue documentation, and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and the technical modernization team.


Qualifications

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD, 9 years with HS Diploma
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have active Public Trust clearance
  • SQL skills; experience or similar languages.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to document requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working across both technical and business domains.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and effective in fast-paced modernization environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with application modernization or cross-system integration.
  • Familiarity with Agile/DevSecOps practices and workflow tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance, modeling, and analytics tools.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
