Position Summary
The Patient Experience Representative supports the Perioperative Care team by providing exceptional customer service, coordinating patient scheduling and registration, and helping ensure efficient patient flow throughout the department. This role serves as an important point of contact for patients, families, providers, and staff while supporting daily administrative and operational functions within a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide positive and professional customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff
  • Greet, screen, direct, and register patients while maintaining accurate demographic and insurance information
  • Schedule patient appointments and procedures across providers and departments
  • Obtain insurance authorizations, referrals, and verifications as needed
  • Support daily patient flow and communicate with clinical teams to ensure efficient operations
  • Answer and route phone calls, take messages, and respond to routine inquiries
  • Assist with meeting coordination, calendars, department events, and general administrative support
  • Prepare and organize medical records, forms, and appointment materials as needed
  • Participate in shift handoffs and team huddles to support continuity of care
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or GED required
Experience:
  • Previous customer service, patient access, scheduling, or administrative experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Experience with patient registration, insurance verification, or scheduling systems preferred
Schedule:
Full-time, onsite position
Rotating schedule may include:
  • 5:30am - 2:00pm
  • 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Occasional 12:00pm - 8:30pm shifts
  • Occasional weekends

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
