As a Controls Engineer supporting our Manufacturing Engineering function, you will support the industrial automation segment of all equipment at the Anoka manufacturing site. Specifically supporting automation related tasks in conjunction with day/day manufacturing operations, support of site and equipment optimization efforts, and assisting in bringing new automation equipment into the facility. Through implementation, debug, and maintenance of the control systems that power our production equipment and new facilities automation, you will work closely with the all departments including R&D, NPI Engineering, Facilities Maintenance, Operations, and Leadership, to sustain and optimize all automation-based activities. ***This role will work onsite, 5 days a week in Anoka, MN*** WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS ROLE:
- Implement, debug, and maintain the machine controls architecture/performance for all site automation. Specific areas of focus include PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and industrial communication networks.
- Upon assignment, support site-wide optimization tasks tied to automation. Areas of focus include up-time, equipment throughput, and overall product quality of all mechanized equipment.
- Upon assignment, support NPI automation initiatives to ensure appropriate product and equipment introduction into operations. Assist in equipment procurement and integration, including reviewing specifications, supporting FAT/SAT activities, and collaborating with machine builders.
- Collaborate with production controls engineering to transition new equipment into sustained production support.
- Develop and maintain data acquisition and logging systems, ensuring accurate tracking of test results and equipment performance.
- Support helium leak testing and functional testing by implementing control logic, sequencing, and safety interlocks for complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Apply modular design principles to controls architecture, code structure, and hardware layouts to improve maintainability and scalability.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or other related technical degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation engineering, or production test system development preferred.
- Hands on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, CAN, etc.).
- Strong background in instrumentation and electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience supporting or implementing end-of-line test systems in a production environment.
- Familiarity with capital equipment, automation hardware, and machine builder collaboration.
- Working knowledge of database systems used for test data collection.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a passion for building reliable automated systems.
- Exposure to helium leak testing is a plus.

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range: $76,000.00 - $141,100.00
