The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a part-time licensed mental health therapist (PhD/PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) to care for Keck Medicine of USC patients. We are seeking candidates to join a diverse and dynamic multidisciplinary team who are strongly committed to providing excellent, multiculturally competent clinical care to Keck Medicine patients, and who reflect our diverse adult population, possess strong clinical skills, are familiar with the duties of an outpatient mental health clinic within the Keck Medicine of USC system, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, collegial, and professional environment.

This is a part-time clinical faculty position with an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and a clinical service assignment in PBHS at HSC. Salary is competitive, and contingent on experience. Description of PBHS at HSC

PBHS at HSC is an outpatient mental health clinic within the Keck Medicine of USC medical system and is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of clinical psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and case managers that provide mental health services to Keck Medicine patients.

Position Description [Purpose, Scope, and Duties]

The USC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a part-time licensed clinical psychologists/clinical social workers to provide outpatient evidence-based psychotherapy treatments and mental health services within the Keck Medicine of USC medical system. Clinicians will perform psychosocial evaluations and diagnostic assessments, provide short-term evidence-based psychotherapies and psycho-educational interventions, and work with multidisciplinary teams in treatment planning to provide high quality care to Keck Medicine of USC patients, staff, and faculty. Successful applicants will provide mental health services to a wide variety of individuals including those with co-morbid medical illness, behavioral health concerns, and/or psychiatric conditions.

Essential Functions

  • Reports to Medical Director of PBHS at HSC
  • Conducts initial diagnostic evaluations and biopsychosocial assessments, develops treatment plans, and provides short-term evidence-based psychological interventions
  • Provides individual and group therapy, as indicated
  • Evaluates crisis situations and intervenes appropriately
  • Completes timely documentation and billing in accordance with to clinic policies
  • Maintains appropriate clinical records and complies with all relevant regulatory policies and procedures
  • Participates in clinical outcome evaluation
  • Collaboratesand consults with other mental health and medical providers
  • Participates in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinic meetings
  • Attendsand contributes to department and division meetings, fostering clinical objectives and a consultativecollegialenvironment
  • Participatesin yearly peer review and quality improvement activities
  • Schedules reflect a hybrid of telemedicine and in-person clinic. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program, or Master's degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Licensed in California
  • Well-developed clinical skills and experience utilizing evidenced-based interventions for the treatment of mental health conditions
  • Effectively works in a highly diverse, multicultural, and LGBTQIA affirmative environment
  • Interest and skill inanintegrated approach to care
  • Willingness and ability to meet departmental productivity standards consistent with patient volumes for short-term outpatient psychotherapy clinics
  • Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments
  • Flexible/comfortable adapting to a new and evolving clinical practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with hospital based or medical system environment
  • Excellent diagnostic skillsand knowledge of DSM5
  • Resilient, self-aware, and able to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience working with issues related to chronic medical illness, new medical diagnosis, and/or providing short-term psychotherapy interventions
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to professional integrity
  • Desire to continue to grow as a professional; committed to excellence and lifelong learning
  • Strong communication skills
  • Foreign language skills are a plus

The annual base salary range for this position is $78,718.00-$98,272.00.
