DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Communications and Digital Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the department's communications and social media strategy. This role creates, distributes, and supports content that promotes the department's audits, programs, workforce initiatives, and public-facing content. Your skills and experience will help effectively manage social media workflows, multimedia projects, and communications efforts across the agency. Work involves the following duties:
- Content Creation: Develop copy, design graphics, produce videos, and create multimedia materials for social media, internal messaging, and external communications efforts
- Posting Management: Develop and maintain a monthly social media calendar and manage online posting workflows
- Analytics and Strategy: Compile monthly social media insights; identify, develop, and implement strategies to expand engagement and digital reach based on analytics
- Social Media: Collaborate with Workforce Development to develop content for LinkedIn, employee profiles, and other materials; record, edit, and produce videos for the 'On The Menu' blog series
- Traditional Outreach: Support the communications team in producing news events and outreach efforts; develop and distribute news releases, media advisories, and other content as appropriate
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Communications, Workforce, and Digital teams to ensure consistent messaging; provide backup support for internal and external websites when needed
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- This position requires regular travel throughout Pennsylvania to support and staff the Auditor General at events, media appearances, and public engagements.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Bachelor's in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Three-five years of experience in communications, social media management, multimedia production, or similar roles.
Additional Requirements:
- Statewide travel is required for the position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in content development, digital communications, and social media management
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Ability to interpret analytics to develop data-informed strategies
- Proficiency in graphic design
- Proficiency with video recording and editing tools
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, MailChimp, and WordPress
- Familiarity with ADA compliance standards for digital content and design
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate across teams
- An understanding of how the Pennsylvania General Assembly operates-and the basics of the legislative process-is beneficial
