Job Description: Faculty in the School of Planning and Public Affairs are seeking an Hourly Summer Research Assistant to support a research project focused on coding food system plans. The position will involve coding plan documents, coordinating and tracking others' coding efforts, cleaning and organizing data, and supporting general research file management. Duties may include:
- Conducting literature searches and assisting with annotated bibliography work
- Entering, cleaning, and organizing data
- Coding documents, plans, interviews, or survey responses
- Coordinating and tracking coding progress across project materials
- Creating tables, figures, or summary materials
- Assisting with preparation of manuscripts, reports, or presentations
- Maintaining organized project files and documentation
Work Hour Expectations: Approximately 15-20 hours per week. Work hours are flexible. The position will be hybrid, with some work completed remotely and some meetings or tasks completed in person as needed. Hourly Rate: $20 per hour Length of Position: June 2026-August 2026 Required Qualifications:
- Interest in public affairs, planning, food systems, public policy, or social science research
- Strong writing and organizational skills
- Experience with tools such as Excel, Word, Google Drive, ArcGIS, qualitative coding software or methods, and/or Zotero
- Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and meet deadlines
