The Telecommunications Operator supports the responses to various internal and external telephone inquiries for information and direction to provide superior customer service. Working under close supervision, this position facilitates the distribution of various forms of information in emergency situations. Strong flexibility required. This position is "as needed". Schedule is for both 1st and 2nd shift, system wide as needed. (Meaning onsite at different Cone Health hospitals) Shifts include weekdays and weekends as needed. Essential Job Function: Serves as a first point of contact for incoming internal and external calls to ensure patient information is delivered quickly and accurately. Supports the operation of communication systems, including telephone switchboard, radio, and emergency notification systems. Contacts individuals regarding calls through paging or interoffice equipment to connect appropriate resources to related problems. Relays emergency messages received with written or verbal messaging to provide context to those supporting the emergency situations. Utilizes technology to complete data entry or word processing tasks, including updating directories and typing or proofreading documents. Assists in logistical arrangement of schedules for internal stakeholders in order to coordinate meetings and staffing. Performs other duties as assigned.
