Job Summary The Structured Cabling Technician I is an entry-level skilled trades position responsible for supporting the installation of low-voltage cabling and network infrastructure systems in commercial construction environments. Working alongside experienced technicians, this role assists with cable installation, pathway construction, telecom room build-outs, equipment mounting, and jobsite support activities. The ideal candidate has experience in construction, electrical work, landscaping, general labor, warehouse operations, installation services, or other hands-on trades and is eager to develop a career in the telecommunications and low-voltage industry. No prior structured cabling experience is required; training will be provided for candidates with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and willingness to learn. Job Responsibilities
Assist with the installation and routing of low-voltage copper and fiber optic cabling throughout commercial facilities.
Pull cable through walls, ceilings, conduit, modular furniture systems, and designated cable pathways.
Install cable support systems including J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, ladder racks, and other pathway infrastructure.
Dress, bundle, organize, secure, and label cabling according to project specifications.
Assist with cable terminations, device installations, and connectivity testing under supervision.
Support the installation of Wireless Access Points (WAPs), telecommunications equipment, and related hardware.
Assist with telecom room build-outs, including installation of racks, patch panels, backboards, and cable management systems.
Perform basic fire-stopping activities and maintain fire-rated penetrations as directed.
Read and follow blueprints, floor plans, project drawings, and installation instructions.
Complete timesheets, material tracking, and other project documentation accurately.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, customers, and other trades on the jobsite.
Follow all OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements.
Participate in ongoing training and skill development opportunities.
Job Requirements
Experience working in construction, electrical, landscaping, general labor, warehouse, installation, maintenance, mechanical, manufacturing, or other hands-on skilled trades environments.
Comfortable working with hand tools and performing physically demanding work in active construction settings.
Ability to safely work on ladders, scissor lifts, and elevated work areas.
Ability to lift materials, move equipment, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
Ability to follow instructions, learn new skills, and work effectively within a team environment.
Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
Ability to read or learn to read blueprints, floor plans, and construction drawings.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience
0-2 years of experience in construction, electrical work, landscaping, general labor, warehouse operations, installation services, maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical trades, or related hands-on work environments preferred.
Experience working with tools, equipment, materials, or construction crews is highly desirable.
Experience working outdoors, on active jobsites, or in physically demanding environments is preferred.
Exposure to structured cabling, low-voltage systems, telecommunications, network infrastructure, security systems, or audio/visual installation is a plus but not required.
Experience terminating RJ45 connectors is a plus but not required.
Candidates with backgrounds as Construction Laborers, Electrical Helpers, Apprentice Electricians, Landscapers, Installers, Maintenance Technicians, Warehouse Associates, Movers, Manufacturing Technicians, HVAC Helpers, or other trade-support positions are encouraged to apply.
No prior structured cabling experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided.

Typical start time is 7:00 AM.
Expected work schedule is 40-50 hours per week depending on project demands.
Overtime may be required based on project schedules and deadlines.
Projects may include corporate offices, retail facilities, schools, industrial sites, healthcare facilities, and other commercial construction environments.
Travel to multiple project locations may be required.
Ability to work in unfinished construction environments, both indoors and outdoors.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Required personal tools include a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel locks, cable stripper, punch-down tool, flashlight, gloves, and tool pouch.
Steel-toe or composite-toe work boots are required.
Must comply with all jobsite safety requirements and OSHA standards.
