Senior Manager, Hazard Communication COE

We are looking for a strategic and experienced Senior Manager, Global Hazard Communications. This role is critical to ensuring PPG meets all global regulatory, corporate, and customer requirements for product hazard communication that are necessary to manufacture, distribute, and commercialize products worldwide.

As a senior leader, you will oversee the development and systems for authoring compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS), hazard evaluations, and product warning labels across our global product portfolio. You will also guide consistency, efficiency, and progress in hazard communication processes to support business growth. This hybrid role will sit in our Monroeville, PA office and will report to the Global Director of Product Stewardship.

Responsibilities

Global Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop a global hazard communication strategy aligned with regulatory requirements and PPG goals

  • Be the subject matter expert and trusted advisor to business leaders, regulatory teams, and product stewardship partners

  • Lead and develop a global team

Regulatory Compliance & SDS Oversight

  • Ensure the creation, accuracy, and maintenance of compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS) across all regions

  • Oversee hazard classifications and evaluations following GHS and regional regulations

  • Ensure product labeling compliance, including hazard warnings and product communication requirements

Process & Systems Management

  • Manage hazard communication systems and tools to support global compliance and operational efficiency

  • Improve and standardize workflows, data integrity, and digital capabilities

Global Coordination & Governance

  • Monitor and interpret global regulatory changes and ensure implementation

  • Collaborate with Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs, S&T, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams

  • Establish global governance frameworks, policies, and procedures

  • Balance regulatory requirements with speed, cost-efficiency, and customer needs

  • Contribute to PPG's productivity improvements and growth goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, or related field (advanced degree highly desired)
  • 10+ years of experience in hazard communication, product stewardship, regulatory compliance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of Management experience
  • Mastery of GHS, SDS authoring, global chemical regulations, and hazard classification systems
  • Expertise leading global teams and influencing across a matrixed organization
  • Experience with compliance systems (e.g., SAP EHS, SDS authoring tools, regulatory databases)
  • Experience in coatings, chemicals, or manufacturing industries
  • Knowledge of regional regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA HazCom, REACH, CLP, WHMIS)
  • Experience with process optimization and digital transformation plans
