Job Description We are seeking a full-time undergraduate student associate for the summer semester to join our research group in bioinformatics and computational biology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Our lab develops AI-driven methods for protein structure analysis, protein-protein interaction prediction, protein function annotation, biomedical text mining, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) agents. Current projects focus on large-scale biological data integration, semantic search over protein knowledge resources, and machine learning systems for extracting functional insights from sequence, structural, and literature-derived data. This position involves the generation and processing of large-scale datasets, data mining, large data analysis, and development of machine learning workflows for biological and text-based applications. Student associate will contribute to projects involving text embeddings, semantic search, vector-based retrieval systems, and Python/Jupyter notebook development, while also supporting computational pipelines for biological sequence and structural datasets. The work provides hands-on exposure to modern AI methods applied to real-world biomedical research problems. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Python programming and comfortable working in Jupyter notebooks, with prior experience in data analysis and basic machine learning workflows. Familiarity with text embeddings, semantic search, or NLP-style vector retrieval methods is highly desirable. Experience working in Linux, HPC cluster, or cloud environments is a strong plus. A GitHub portfolio or repository demonstrating coding projects is highly encouraged and will be considered an advantage. Primary Duties

The location of the Physical Agility Assessment will be at the UC Department of Public Safety Police Division located at 51 West Corry Boulevard, Edwards Three, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the assessment tests and bring identification and the medical certification or waiver. Medical Release Certification: This doctor's certification to perform the Physical Agility Assessment must be completed and signed by the applicant and a personal physician PRIOR to the date of the Physical Assessment; OR a waiver can be signed. One of these forms must be brought to the Physical Agility Assessment and will be collected by assessment staff. Failure to provide one of these documents will mean exclusion from the assessment process and ineligibility for this job.
