San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions. HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION The Research Associate II, Community Engagement assists and delivers aspects of assigned projects and programs in specialized areas of biological and/or social science that is focused on driving conservation action through science education and community collaborations. This position reports to a Supervisor level or higher on the Community Engagement team within the Conservation Science & Wildlife Health department.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR The Community Engagement team is seeking to fill a part-time, temporary position to facilitate the AIP program's Human Dimensions of Conservation course in an online format with in-person experiential learning. Ideal candidates will have experience with the social sciences and human dimensions of conservation sub-field, as well as expertise facilitating learning experiences with adult audiences in formal and informal contexts. Experience with online course platforms, hands-on teaching methods, within the Project Dragonfly Miami University learning community, and with graduate program structure, is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work non-traditional hours (mornings, evenings, weekends) as needed in accordance with student availability and assignment deadlines, and co-lead experiential learning curriculum and activities onsite and at adjacent locations is required. Candidates must be proficient with Google Suite. This position reports to the Associate Director of Community Engagement and works closely with the Associate Director and Research Coordinator I positions. This position requires four full days of in-person facilitation from June 5th to June 8th as well as flexible virtual evening and weekend work. JOB EXPERIENCE
