*MongoDB SME / Enterprise Database Architect*
We're looking for a Sr. MongoDB Engineer to design, govern, and optimize enterprise MongoDB data platforms supporting missioncritical, highvolume applications. This role is a handson technical leadership position responsible for endtoend database architecture, performance, resiliency, and operational excellence across complex MongoDB environments. You'll partner closely with application engineering, platform/DevOps, infrastructure, and information security teams to translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and durable database solutions-from initial design through production rollout and steadystate operations. Key Areas of Focus * *Enterprise MongoDB Architecture & Distributed Systems*: Design and govern scalable, highly available MongoDB architectures while balancing consistency, availability, durability, and performance. * *Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting at Scale*: Analyze workloads, optimize queries and indexing, and resolve complex performance and stability issues across database, application, and infrastructure layers. * *Operational Resiliency, Governance & Risk Management*: Implement backup and recovery strategies, monitoring standards, automation, and controls to ensure secure, resilient, and compliant production platforms. Responsibilities * Design and govern MongoDB architectures for highthroughput, lowlatency, missioncritical use cases * Lead data modeling, schema design, and access pattern strategy aligned to application requirements * Architect and operate replication, high availability, and failover behavior, including read/write topology optimization * Design and manage sharding strategies for large datasets and horizontally scalable systems * Perform advanced performance tuning including index strategy design, query and execution plan analysis, aggregation pipeline optimization, connection pooling, workload profiling, and capacity planning * Apply distributed systems tradeoffs across consistency, availability, durability, and performance * Design and validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies aligned to defined RPO/RTO objectives * Establish operational standards such as monitoring, alerting, runbooks, capacity thresholds, and incident response procedures * Automate database operations and diagnostics using Linux scripting (bash and/or Python) * Integrate MongoDB platforms with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and repeatable deployment practices * Provide expert guidance on application integration patterns, drivers, connection pooling, and transaction semantics * Act as a trusted advisor throughout the SDLC, from design reviews through production support * Proactively identify and mitigate data integrity, resiliency, security, and operational risks while supporting multiple concurrent initiatives *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Chandler, AZ. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $65.06 - $65.06/hr.
