We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Release Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of transforming how software moves from development to production, directly influencing system stability, enhancing user experience, and driving operational excellence. Your expertise will not only optimize release processes but also empower development teams to innovate faster and more reliably, contributing directly to the success and technological advancement of a leading financial institution. **What You'll Do:** * Define and implement clear, consistent release processes that streamline deployments and clarify team roles and responsibilities.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all release processes, ensuring team members are thoroughly trained and aligned for consistency and reliability.
* Champion the adoption of automated and reproducible release processes, leveraging continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to manage the software lifecycle efficiently from development to production.
* Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to meticulously define steps for code storage, building, testing, and deployment, fostering a robust bridge between development and operations.
* Manage the entire release cycle, categorizing updates (major, minor, bugfix) to ensure controlled evolution of software without compromising stability.
* Oversee the creation, testing, and deployment of software builds, ensuring efficiency and reliability at every stage.
* Utilize metrics and observability tools to monitor release velocity and assess the impact of changes on system performance, driving data-driven decisions and continuous improvement. **What You'll Bring:** * 5-7 years of support or development experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree from a top-tier university, preferably in Computer Science.
* Deep technical proficiency in software development, configuration management, test integration, and system administration.
* Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end release process, from source code management to deployment, including best practices for consistency and tool utilization.
* Proven expertise in automating build processes and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines for safe, incremental deployments.
* Ability to integrate and leverage observability tools to track release performance and gather critical feedback.
* A strong commitment to continuous improvement, evidenced by a willingness to iterate on processes based on feedback and post-mortems.
* Experience operating in both Windows and Linux environments.
* Working knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle.
* Proficiency with version control systems like GitHub, GitHub Actions, and BitBucket.
* Familiarity with major public cloud platforms.
* Working familiarity with workflow automation tools.
* Working knowledge of AI models or intelligent automation tools.
* Solid understanding of software development life-cycles and best practices.
