Who are we?

Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.

Job Summary

  • Prepare
    financial reporting on a consistent basis to support location and
    corporate requirements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure
    that all approvals for SOX compliance are met on a daily, weekly, and
    monthly basis.
  • Perform
    monthly close, including all reconciliation and review/approvals of each
    balance sheet account.
  • Monitor
    all transactions for costing and expenses to analyze and forecast margins
    on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ensure
    all financial deadlines for financial and ad hoc reporting are met.
  • Ensure
    that all cash and treasury deadlines are met on a daily and basis as
    required.
  • Prepare
    and coordinate Annual Operating plan, monthly forecasting cycle, variance
    reporting, as well as managing the Capital acquisition process.
  • Analyze
    results to drive improvements and meet long term goals.
  • Help
    drive and influence Performance Center results on Corporate initiatives.
  • Support
    bid and proposal process. Prepare current and future cost estimates as
    well as rate structure simulation.
  • Review
    contracts to ensure they are in alignment with current accounting
    policies, with a focus on Revenue recognition and Cost matching.
  • Ensure
    Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal controls are reviewed, updated, and
    followed. Coordinate SOX and financial audit testing at the facility.
  • Ensure
    that SOX 404 testing is compliant, timely, accurately, and fully
    documented.
  • Ensure
    all facility staff are trained properly and adhere to accounting policies
    and procedures. Establish written procedures for proper compliance and
    function for each task performed on a regular basis within the accounting
    process.
  • Develop
    team members to strengthen the skills and capabilities of the local
    finance department.
  • Perform
    other assignments as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven
    analytical abilities, including strong accounting/financial, budgeting,
    business planning, and forecasting skills, with solid working knowledge of
    Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Self-starter
    capable of interacting closely with production, bidding, materials, and
    customer service as well as the ability to quickly identify and solve
    complex problems.
  • Ability
    to develop and deliver clear and convincing presentations to senior
    management, peers, and co-workers.
  • Excellent
    written and verbal skills to interact with people at all levels and
    functions inside and outside Ducommun.
  • Ability
    to work with a large volume of detail producing accurate results within
    aggressive deadlines
  • Advanced
    level of computer skills in e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Proficient
    MRP/ERP system skills
  • Creative
    and innovative approach to problem resolution
  • Thorough
    understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Negotiation
    and conflict management skills
  • Leadership
    skills-people management, meeting facilitation, and customer support
  • Exceptional
    organization skills are required with emphasis on attention to details
  • Ability
    to multitask efficiently and adapt within a rapidly changing environment
  • Knowledge
    of CAS and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's
    degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum
    10+ years of accounting experience including working in a manufacturing
    environment
  • Prior Controller experience
  • Government
    account experience

Licenses, Certifications, etc.

  • CPA/CMA Preferred
