Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of Occupational Therapy clients accessing the Rehab Specialties department. When working at Ridgeview the Occupational Therapist will provide access, intervention and discharge for all ages within the professional scope of practice.

Job Functions


  1. Performs evaluations, documents care, and discharges client cases according to RMC and professional standards.
  2. Provides current and quality treatment, utilizing Ridgeview and professional resources to promote continued quality care.
  3. Communicates with the patient, health care providers, insurer and others to ensure that patient needs are addressed.
  4. Exhibits working knowledge of hours of operation, customer base, department operations, visit procedures, and chart audit procedures.
  5. Understands and uses reimbursement and regulatory guidelines for care and environment.
  6. Provides effective supervision of OTs
  7. Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

When functioning as a Supervisor:


  1. Assures that a proper staff mix is available for the site to allow for accessibility for the services. Manage changes, PTO, leave, new schedules, changing business demand, etc. Observe trends and bring these concerns forward to Manager/Director/CSA Coordinator regularly.
  2. Partner in assurance of quality care and medical record content competency at site. Includes evaluations, treatment forms, patient education and communication to all parties in care. Assure completion and storage of records per regulatory requirements. Be aware of and actively participate in any relevant performance improvement or care quality processes within Rehab Specialties.
  3. Partner in recruiting and hiring new staff. Partner in hosting an effective orientation process, mentorship, and other support for new staff members at location.
  4. Conducts performance reviews for site specific areas and coordinate employee review with other roles. Advocate with others for career success and growth of staff.
  5. Oversees site financials including development of site budget in coordination with Director. Generate capital equipment requests for new or repaired space needs. Align needs with strategy for the business and site. Works with Rehab Specialties Management Team to bring forward strategic initiatives and targets for the specific site.
  6. Support billing and reimbursement at site, including accurate billing during care, errors and reimbursement changes, denials, patient questions.
  7. Provide input into the marketing plan and participates as indicated. Act on changes, patient experience trends, and staff conversations needed.
  8. Leads site workgroups. Shares information through Rehab Gab, memos and meeting minutes in a timely manner. Assure staff are receiving and accountable for information shared.
  9. Be the primary contact for facility issues. Maintains safe and comfortable environment at site for patients and staff - including compliance, audits, observations. Act on information or changes needed. Assures all regulatory agency requirements are met within the physical site. (DNV, Medicare, Ridgeview Facilities, Safety Cop program, etc.)
  10. Assures policies and procedures address issues as indicated. Develops new policies and procedures as needed. Reviews policies and procedures to be sure they reflect current practice.

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities


    • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions

    • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

    • Ability to work independently and organize tasks

    • Ability to exhibit flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior

    • Ability to promote Rehab Specialties services

    • Ability to change work locations with or without prior notification in order to meet customer needs

    • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner

    • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications

    • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations

    • Ability to work autonomously and as a team

    • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills


License/Certifications


    • Licensed Occupational Therapist, valid in Minnesota

    • CPR Certification
