Base Compensation Range: $21.51/ hour - $26.92/ hour

This position is eligible for an annual 10% bonus opportunity in addition to the base salary

This position supports Mesa's SDC business. Our Sterilization and Disinfection Control division manufactures and sells biological and chemical indicators that assess the effectiveness of sterilization and disinfection processes for pharmaceutical, healthcare, and dental industries.

Job Summary

The Lab Analyst III (R&D Department) is a skilled position responsible for advanced support in laboratory operations. The Lab Analyst III will conduct complex laboratory procedures and ensure high standards of quality and safety. The Lab Analyst III will collaborate with senior laboratory personnel to manage projects, optimize workflows, and assist in training and mentoring other Lab Analysts. This role will report directly to the Associate Manager, R & D.

Duties/Responsibilities

Complex Sample Preparation and Analysis:

*Assist with R&D project(s) for either continuous improvement within the manufacturing facility or the development of new products.
* Perform advanced laboratory procedures, including sample collection, processing, and analysis according to established protocols or experimental protocols for proof of concept experiments.
* Conduct experiments, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting results to senior staff for interpretation.
*Organize and prioritize workload effectively.
* Effectively communicate technical information in oral and written communication, presentations and reports.

Laboratory Maintenance and Oversight:

* Maintain laboratory equipment, performing regular inspections, calibrations, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
* Ensure that the laboratory environment is clean, organized, and compliant with safety and regulatory standards.

Supervision and Training:

This is not a supervisory role, however this Analyst II may assist with training and and mentoring of lower level analysts with day-to day work.

Data Management and Reporting:

* Manage data entry and analysis within laboratory information systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
* Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on laboratory findings for review by senior management and stakeholders.

Project Coordination:

* Collaborate with senior laboratory personnel on special projects, including research initiatives and method development.
* Assist in planning and organizing laboratory workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity
* Work efficiently with groups including but not limited to R&D, Quality, Production, Product Management.

Compliance and Safety:

* Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
* Participate in safety audits and training sessions, actively contributing to a culture of safety within the laboratory.

Education/Experience:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with demonstrated proficiency in complex laboratory procedures and techniques.

Knowledge & Skillsets Required:

* Strong understanding of laboratory operations, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.

* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.

* Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and mentor junior staff.

Physical Demands:

* Standing or sitting: For extended periods in laboratories or offices.

* Using computers: Typing and using the computer

* Manual dexterity: Handling instruments, samples, and data analysis tools.

* Equipment: Handling and maintaining scientific instruments

* Bending and reaching: Accessing equipment or storage areas.

* Lifting: Occasionally handling lab equipment or materials.

* Repetitive motions: Conducting repetitive experiments or analyses.

Environmental Conditions:

* Workspace: Climate control (air conditioning or heating) to ensure comfort.

* Lighting: Artificial lighting and must be able to see different colors.

* Noise Levels: Light

* Ergonomics: Designed to support tasks such as pipetting, analyzing samples, and preparing reagents, often requiring precise movements.

* Climate: Regulated temperature, humidity, and cleanliness to ensure accurate results.

* Safety: Must adhere to safety protocols, including wearing protective gear (gloves, lab coats, goggles) and handling chemicals or biological materials carefully.
