Student Financial Aid

Job Description

Strategic Planning:

  • Ensure system and administrative processes are updated within the program(s) you manage for a successful execution.
  • Remain in alignment with institutional, state, and federal regulations, suggest updates, modifications, and create new policy within your program.
  • Research, recommend, and create new and improved ways to help staff understand the program better to assist students, ensure the program is operating on a high level, and collect data for feedback and improvements.

Compliance and Regulations:

  • Ensure you are up to date and adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Stay abreast on policy changes and new trainings stemming from Higher Education resources, such as, Department of Education and NASFAA.
  • Prepare for audits and ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Fully document policy and procedure on a yearly basis.

Budgets and Student Accounts:

  • Work closely with the Senior Assistant Director to ensure student budgets and Cost of Attendance are accurate by reviewing financial aid reports that generate weekly.
  • Review, update, and process student awards if there are discrepancies: overawards, budget reviews, professional judgement updates, SAI corrections, prorations, grade level changes, etc.
  • Review Touch Net system to review student billing, payment plans, and financial aid offered to assist students with student account questions and to review any discrepancies between billing and financial aid.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with admissions, registrar, bursar, and academic departments.
  • Hold conferences/meetings with staff, students, and parents to go over financial aid and a financial plan- explain financial aid processes and procedures.

Student Support and Case Management:

  • Handle complex or escalated financial aid cases.
  • Be able to make sound judgement when reviewing financial aid appeals
  • Ensure a student-centered approach to aid distribution.

Access Initiative:

  • Develop forms accessible to all students. More specifically, Kuali forms that will assist students with limited access to PDFs. Make suggestions or create outreach programs within the university, state, or any higher education entity that will bring increased awareness of financial aid opportunities.
  • Review and evaluate gaps in funding and advocate for improvements.

Technical Abilities and Systems, Process Improvement:

  • Oversee programs in MyView and work out of multiple systems, including FSA Partner Connect, Famous, NASFAA, Perceptive Content, Touch Net, and others not mentioned.
  • Streamline workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Suggest or implement new technologies where appropriate.
  • Update and write new queries
  • Send communications through Campus Community, organize FINA or specialized comments in Campus Community to ensure comments are being utilized and generated to the appropriate actions or communication.
  • Update checklist relevant to the upcoming aid year changes/updates.
  • Work closely with the Senior Assistant Director to create new checklist, item types, or communications.
  • Work closely with the Director and Sr. Assistant Director to ensure reports are running as normal and update job sets/queries as needed.
  • Assist with the ongoing development of the operational calendar and updates as needed.

Shift

40 Hours/week. Monday-Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Financial Aid packaging software setup.
  • Experience with other non-Financial Aid technical/functional program setup
  • PeopleSoft Experience
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $68,161.60 per year
Grade: GGS-9E
