Silgan Closures is hiring a Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Assistant in Champaign, IL to support warehouse operations, forklift material handling, inventory control, and logistics in a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for experienced warehouse associates, material handlers, or forklift operators looking for longterm stability with a global industry leader.

What you'll do:

• Operate industrial forklifts to load, unload, and move materials and finished goods
• Perform shipping and receiving duties in a manufacturing warehouse
• Verify product counts, weights, measurements, and shipment documentation
• Use RF scanners to track cartons and pallets accurately
• Label cartons and pallets with required shipping information
• Inspect incoming shipments, document damages or shortages, and coordinate resolution with carriers
• Store incoming materials in designated inventory locations
• Schedule freight pickup with trucking carriers to meet delivery requirements
• Work with logistics providers and outside vendors as needed
• Enter shipping and receiving data into computer systems and generate documentation
• Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and resolve discrepancies
• Communicate across shifts with material handlers, customer account specialists (CAS), transportation partners, and plant leadership
• Follow all safety, environmental, and DOT regulations

What you'll need to have:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment
• Previous forklift operation experience preferred
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory and shipping processes
