Job Title: Public Health Data Abstractor Duration: 12+months . Location: Harrisburg, PA 17120 Pay Rate: $22-25/hr on w2 Shift Details- Shifts Full time: 8am to 4pm - Role Description: The position will serve as a data abstractor for data received by county coroner and medical examiner offices on opioid-related death for input into the Pennsylvania National Violent Death Reporting System (PA-VDRS), and State Unintentional Overdose Death Reporting System (SUDORS). Required Experience: Reviews and interprets sensitive detailed opioid-related death data from coroner records, law enforcement reports, autopsy reports and laboratory data. Abstracts sensitive information from coroner and law enforcement reports on opioid-involved deaths that occur in cooperating counties in Pennsylvania, either through on-site records examination at C/ME and law enforcement offices, or from examination of records provided digitally to the ODSMP. Codes, collects, and enters data into web-based SUDORS per the national guidelines for these applications. Assists in the development of plans, reports, and presentations, as necessary. Required knowledge and experience: Data collection, analysis, input, and reporting Ability to travel, including over-night and multiple days: Travel to Pennsylvania county C/ME offices. Annual travel to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention annual meeting (usually held in Atlanta, Ga.) Ability to function independently and as a member of a team. Preferred Experience: Experience or education in public health, public administration, or medical administration.
