Introduction
This Classification is considered exempt and is not subject to the Civil Service Examination process. This position is open to all candidates, both internal and external, who meet the minimum requirements. Applications will be accepted only during the designated filing period for this classification. Residency Requirement:There is no residency requirement to submit an application; however, all District employees must be domiciled within the boundaries of the District within six months of successful completion of probation. (The District is in Cook County, Illinois, covering approximately 90% of the county area.) Application Submission Information Duties: Under direction of the General Counsel, manages a division of the Law Department, represents the District
on the most complex matters and assists the General Counsel in rendering legal advice to District officers and staff.
Absolute Requirement: Admission to the Illinois Bar and the General Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District
of Illinois.
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree and ten years of
experience in the general practice of law, five years of which must have been in legal fields related to
District activities.

Appointments Appointment is subject to successfully passing a physical examination, a drug test and a criminal history background investigation. Salary/Pay Plans The salary listed above is Step 1 in a structured pay plan. At 6 months of employment with the District, the salary will increase to Step 2: $206,216.92. At 18 months, the salary will increase to Step 3: $218,007.66. There are 9 total steps for TAM 22 of the pay plan (view fullpay plan). These increases are based on service time in the job classification and require a 'Meets Standard' performance rating. | |
