Position Summary

The SAP Manufacturing & Production Planning Functional Specialist II supports the implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement of SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing and Production Planning capabilities, including demand planning integrations where applicable. This role partners with Manufacturing and Supply Chain process teams and collaborates with Production, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and SAP technical teams to deliver end-to-end manufacturing and planning rollouts. Responsibilities span master data readiness (Material Master, BOMs, Routings, Work Centers, planning strategies), testing, cutover, and hypercare to drive adoption and stabilize operations post go-live. The role helps enable feasible production plans, stronger supply-demand alignment, improved schedule adherence, and improved customer service levels.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities This role is subject to Export Control Restrictions (ITAR) and all applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee.
  • Execute SAP S/4HANA manufacturing and planning rollout activities across sites, including readiness tracking, governance, RAID/status management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Support manufacturing master data management by driving master data readiness and data quality for planning-critical objects-including materials, work centers/resources, calendars/shifts, production versions, BOMs, and routings
  • Support alignment of planning strategies and standard planner/scheduler workflows, including finite scheduling, capacity/resource planning, pegging/prioritization, and exception management.
  • Lead and coordinate end-to-end testing and validation (integration/UAT), including defect triage, retesting, and coverage of planning and scheduling scenarios (planning runs, constraints, alerts, and execution handoffs).
  • Coordinate cutover planning and execution (mock cutovers, checklists, data/parameter readiness, go/no-go inputs) and provide hypercare issue triage through stabilization.
  • Coordinate cross-functional and technical integrations impacting planning and execution (MRP/MRP Live, MES/MII feedback, order promising/aATP, and legacy coexistence where applicable).
  • Enable user adoption through training; support development of work instructions and reinforcement of standard processes across divisions.

Support KPI definition, validation, and continuous improvement (plan stability, schedule adherence, service levels, inventory and forecast performance), including intake/backlog support and lessons learned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting SAP S/4HANA manufacturing, planning, and scheduling implementations/rollouts in discrete manufacturing environments, including requirements, testing, cutover, and hypercare/stabilization.
  • Strong experience with Material Master, Bills of Material (BOM), Routings, and Work Centers.
  • Strong understanding of operational/business activities and how they impact financial transactions. (Cost Rolls; Production Order Confirmations; Material Movements; Physical Inventory)
  • Hands-on functional expertise validating planning and scheduling processes, including finite scheduling, capacity/resource planning, pegging, alerts, and end-to-end planning execution, including MRP/MRP Live interactions.
  • Working knowledge of demand planning/forecasting concepts and upstream/downstream impacts (testing and operational adoption).
  • Experience coordinating planning-to-execution integrations, including MES/MII interfaces and production execution feedback; familiarity with adjacent modules/processes (e.g., MM, PM, QM, TM) and their planning/execution touchpoints.
  • Strong delivery and change execution skills, including cross-functional coordination, user stories/acceptance criteria, test documentation/traceability, issue triage, training/SOP development, and change management to drive adoption.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders by translating complex findings into actionable business strategies through presentations and reports
  • Quickly gain proficiency in proprietary technology (ERP) while identifying opportunities to bridge gaps between legacy and future environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (higher during deployment and hypercare).
  • SAP PP/DS implementation experience is a plus.
