Job Title: Associate Scientist

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA 91320

Work Type: 100% On-site

Schedule: Monday-Friday | Standard business hours (8 hours/day)

Duration: 12 Months

Position Overview

We are seeking an Associate Scientist with strong hands-on LC-MS experience to support ongoing analytical pipelines in a lab-based environment. The ideal candidate has practical experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques and is motivated to develop deeper expertise in protein mass analysis.

Candidates may come from industry or academic backgrounds. Degree level is less important than demonstrated technical capability. Training can be provided for individuals with a solid LC-MS foundation who are eager to expand their protein characterization skill set.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, thrives in a collaborative technical team, and wants to build depth in protein-focused analytical workflows within a structured on-site laboratory environment.

Top 3 Must-Have Skill Sets

  • Experience using analytical characterization techniques such as RPLC-MS for intact protein, reduced, and subunit protein mass analysis. Experience with high-throughput MS (RapidFire-MS) is a plus.
  • Experience with protein digestion and RPLC-MS/MS to map and characterize post-translational modifications (e.g., deamidation, isomerization, oxidation), including associated data processing.
  • Experience generating, processing, and analyzing large LC-MS analytical datasets.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • In this vital role, you will be part of the BEAM group, providing scientific and technical expertise to support early Discovery Research through late-stage molecule optimization and candidate selection withinClients drug development pipeline.
  • Perform analytical characterization using RPLC-MS for intact, reduced, and subunit protein mass analysis.
  • Conduct protein digestion and RPLC-MS/MS for PTM mapping and characterization.
  • Generate, process, and analyze large LC-MS datasets.
  • Utilize ESI and MALDI mass spectrometry techniques (preferred).
  • Communicate scientific concepts and results clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently to advance projects within defined timelines.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures and maintain accurate records in an electronic lab notebook (ELN).
  • Employee Value Proposition
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge biologics discovery and development, working within a highly collaborative scientific team and supporting therapies that address serious unmet medical needs.

Red Flags

  • No mass spectrometry experience
  • No chromatographic experience
  • No experience analyzing antibodies or multi-specific antibodies
