POSITION SCOPE

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Heavy Equipment Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing hands-on training and classroom instruction to students (Fisher Industries employees) in the safe and effective operation of all heavy equipment.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Deliver comprehensive hands-on training programs and classroom instruction, in correlation with set curriculum on the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Instruct industry best practices, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance procedures in correlation with heavy equipment manufacturer requirements/recommendations.
  • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and course outlines in correlation with set curriculum to meet industry standards and student needs.
  • Assess students' skill levels and progress through practical evaluations, written tests, and performance reviews.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA/MSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain, inspect, and ensure the proper functioning of training equipment and tools.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to help students improve their skills.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and regulations to enhance the training programs.
  • Instruct operators on using grade control and other GPS/Guidance systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS



  • Obtain required instructor training and certifications
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment in industries such as construction or mining
  • Proficient in CAT Grade and Slope, GNSS, and Tremble based systems
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator
  • Experience as a trainer, instructor, or mentor preferred
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel extensively
  • Comprehensive knowledge of heavy equipment operation, safety practices, and maintenance
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting experience with heavy equipment
