POSITION SUMMARY

As a Production Welder, you will perform MIG and TIG welding to build structural and body components for heavy-duty transit buses. You will work from blueprints and weld symbols to produce consistent, high-quality welds that meet safety, durability, and production standards.

SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:

Our 2nd Shift schedule is Monday-Thursday, 4:00 PM-2:30 AM (4x10s). Overtime is available on Fridays.

Requirements

What You Will Do

  • Perform MIG welding on structural frames, brackets, and bus body components to CWB standards
  • Perform TIG welding on thinner materials and specialty components (where required)
  • Fit, clamp, square, grind, and prep parts prior to welding to ensure proper alignment and tolerances
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and build documentation to determine weld locations and sequence
  • Complete multi-pass welds, overhead welds, vertical welds, and confined-space welds depending on the build area
  • Visually inspect welds for porosity, undercut, cracks, and proper bead profile, performing rework when required
  • Use tools such as grinders, clamps, measuring tapes, levels, squares, and jigs
  • Follow standard work, CWB procedures, and build sequences to maintain consistency and repeatability
  • Work with fabricators, weld team members, and area leads to hit daily TAKT times and production targets
  • Maintain welding equipment (liners, tips, gas flow, wire speed, etc.) and troubleshoot basic weld defects
  • Follow all safety requirements, use proper PPE, and maintain a clean, organized workstation

Requirements:

  • Must be an experienced and proficient welder in the GMAW (MIG) welding process.
  • Must be able to train on 1st shift for the first 90 day.
  • Proficient MIG welding skills (TIG experience or willingness to learn is an asset)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent weld quality
  • Physically able to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to meet production timelines
  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as required
