Your role in our success: The Control Center Operator I is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Chesapeake's pipeline systems and facilities through real-time monitoring and control activities. This entry-level role responds to SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) alarms, adjusts system set points, and makes operational decisions during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions. The Operator I works closely with experienced Operators, field personnel, and internal teams to ensure accurate gas flow and system integrity. This role supports a 24/7 control center operation and requires reliable attendance, schedule adherence, and the ability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous operations. What you'll be working on:
- Qualified on one (1) or more console(s) and able to operate, control, and monitor pipeline systems and facilities reliably while supporting construction and/or maintenance related operating restrictions as well as abnormal and emergency conditions with management and field personnel
- Make operational decisions and set-point changes, in response to normal, abnormal, and emergency operating conditions within the system(s)
- Respond promptly to SCADA alarms and system alerts according to procedures
- Monitor and maintain pressure conditions throughout pipeline system(s) through the operation of system Gate Stations (Receipt Points), Pressure Control Stations, Compressor Stations, LNG Plants, and other pipeline facilities
- Coordinate with Transportation Services team (transmission) and/or Energy Logistics team (distribution) to ensure daily scheduled volumes (receipt and delivery) flow appropriately and in accordance with storage and balancing goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Who you are:
- Operational Knowledge: basic knowledge of operational technology, is preferred; ability to learn and apply operational knowledge as applicable to perform job responsibilities
- Technology: strong computer skills with full MS Office Suite, ability to learn other software required (SCADA, POEMS, etc.); comfortable working in front of a PC with multiple screens and utilizing different software to perform duties
- Communication Skills (both written and oral): ability to communicate effectively with team members, field personnel, and management
- Knowledge of all regulatory requirements: capable of learning applicable regulatory requirements (PHMSA, FERC, and state Public Service Commissions) to perform duties
- This position requires rotating shift work, ability to cover shift rotation as needed
- Operator will be required to pass fatigue training, console qualification test on one console, and OQ to complete training. As an ongoing certification, Operator is
required to test and pass the following: annual fatigue training, console test every 3 years, and OQ every 3 years - Entry Level. Previous utility experience in Control Center and/or SCADA preferred
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Standard driver's license
