Industrial Engineer, People & Site Flow Design

Tesla is currentlyseekinga motivated andaccomplishedIndustrial Engineerto lead the designand analysis forpeopleflow and transportation systems. This role requires strongindustrial engineeringfundamentalsandthe ability to applyfirstprinciplesthinking to designpeopleflow infrastructure.Thisrolemusthave the ability toquantifyfactory, production, and administrative space configurations ata high level, working with ambiguous inputs. Ultimatelythisroleworks to lead the vision forpeopleflowinfrastructurefor each new site. This positionwill be based inAustin, TX.

The teamis responsible fordeveloping a factory design which supports seamless integration between production, packaging, material flow, supply chain, construction, and facilities teams. Innovation is expected. Through a detailed understanding of the high-level factoryobjectivesand extensive collaboration with the internal and external teams designing individual factory components, this team ensures that the overall factory design achieves all of Tesla'sobjectives.

The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile,and highly motivated team toaccomplishsome of the most ambitious projects beingattemptedin any industry today. The candidate will be expected tocollaborate primarily with architectural and civil teams while developing conceptual designs. However, the candidate will be focused on the entire factory as a system, ensuring production, material flow, and other functions will be a success. Thecandidatemust have intuition on what tools to use at each stage of the project when tasked with an analysis.

• Conduct traffic analyses for the site over time
• Develop solutions for road network expansion and additions with civil engineering groups
• Create business cases for mass-transit systems, based on the nature of the site
• Propose shift schedules and patterns for site arrival and departure
• Evaluate alternate solutions for moving associates and administrative staff through internal factory space (think escalators, elevators, moving walkways, shuttles, etc.)
• Develop layout and location for factory amenities with architectural groups
• Collaborate with architectural groups on administrative space design and location
• Collaborate with material flow and factory layout resources to ensure people infrastructure is symbiotic with primary production objectives

• 2+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience with emphasis on people flowand transportation (internship experience may be considered)
• Degree inIndustrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or other relevant education/experience
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in simulation modeling, particularly usingFlexSimorAnyLogicin a manufacturing or warehousing environment (academic experience will be considered)
• Experience with developing features and modules within discrete event simulation software withFlexScript, C++ and/or Visual Basic (VB)
• Extensive project management experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives
• Understanding of people movement solutions (Passenger vehicles,trucks, shuttles, mass-transit, escalators, elevators, moving walkways)
• Experience quantitatively solving ambiguousinfrastructuredesign problems at a systems level
• Experience with layouts in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar modeling tools
• Experience with civil engineering ortraffic flow engineering
