What to Expect

The primary function of this role is to successfully accomplish Quality Control, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, Start Up and Troubleshooting of Instrumentation and Controls Systems across Gigafactory Nevada and surrounding sites.Under supervision of the Commissioning Lead, perform quality verification, loop checks, commissioning, start up and troubleshooting on various instruments related to industrial buildings. This includes but is not limited to instrumentation on Hydronics, Compressed Air, Wastewater, HVAC, Chemical and Life Safety systems.


What You'll Do
  • Perform quality inspections to confirm scopes of work are installed per design drawings and specifications
  • Participation in Construction Completion walkdown to ensure a completed system is handed over to commissioning team. Developing deficiencies lists and participate in commissioning completion walkdowns with facilities operations and maintenance teams
  • Configure, calibrate and perform loop checks on a variety of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and actuators
  • Work with mechanical/process commissioning team to complete all Wet commissioning works on the assets including commissioning with water or other inert media as well as commissioning with process fluids
  • Work closely with vendors and ensure commissioning quality and completion within vendor provided equipment. Perform troubleshooting during commissioning and start up
  • Coordinate activities and maintain working relationships with other departments and staff. This includes Operations, Facilities, Construction, and Design
  • Work closely with integration team to coordinate PLC programming and DCS screen development. Perform VFD configuration, motor IDs, and networking. Support mechanical/process commissioning team during C&E and SOO testing

What You'll Bring
  • Journeyperson Instrumentation, Associate's Degree or technical certificate in Instrumentation & Controls or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Instrumentation and Controls construction, quality and commissioning. Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is highly desirable
  • Ability to understand design drawings: plans, Wiring Diagrams, SLD's, PFD's and P&ID's Proficient in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems. Strong understanding of PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and other automation technologies
  • Essential Physical Demands: Ability to work in various environments, including construction sites, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods
  • Essential Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly as part of essential job functions. Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment to site locations as needed
  • Essential Physical Demands: Must be able to wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, boots, and other safety gear, as per safety protocols
  • Essential Physical Demands: Must have the ability to climb stairs/ladders, work at heights, and operate personnel lifts safely, with or without reasonable accommodation
