We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:


Position: Recreation Specialist- (Part Time)



The Recreation Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of recreation activities and programming appropriate for the client population.



Creston Avenue Residence is a residence that provides housing to chronically homeless single adults, chronically homeless families, and those at serious risk of becoming homeless, as well as veterans with HUD-VASH vouchers, and families that meet income eligibility requirements and do not require supportive services. Location: Bronx, NY 10468



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree and one year of relevant experience with a similar populations or high school diploma or GED with at least two years relevant experience.



Recreation Specialist Principal Responsibilities:



  1. Plan, coordinate, publicize, implement, and facilitate support groups, recreational activities, special events and holiday programs. Update and post printed materials and encourage client participation.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of new programs aimed at enhancing clients motivation through socialization and the development of leisure time skills.
  3. Coordinate programs with case managers in order to facilitate success of In-Reach sessions.
  4. Develop contacts with various sources for off-site activities.
  5. Assist in preparing and submitting written and statistical reports.
  6. Provide aftercare to assigned clients who have been placed / discharged from the facility.
